The BUDDY CHECK FLY (pictured above) represents suicide prevention awareness and was created in response to the loss of a young local veteran on March 23, 2020.

Leadership faced the challenge of this tragedy by brainstorming ideas that could potentially provide post traumatic growth for our veterans and volunteers alike. Some type of recognizable symbol, that spoke to the mission and could be easily shared, needed to be developed.

With this mission in mind, POTF volunteer, Phil Varketta, created the BUDDY CHECK FLY. Each September our organization ties them in recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. By tying them, wearing them and sharing them, we turn tragedy into hope.
